This Chilly 🥶 week = FROZEN ❄️ Translucent 2D + 3D Movie Poster Collage Designs!

We put on our filmmaker thinking caps and became graphic designers to create our own version of a 3D Movie Poster. Frozen 2 was our inspiration this week!

We learned NEW characters…  Nature’s elements!(Earth (GIANTS) Fire (BRUNI) Water (NOKK) Wind (GALE.)  Click to learn more about this.  Art Themes: Opaque vs. Transparent/Translucent; Warm vs Cool colors, plus how movies build Characters- and represent them in advertising.

You can create other collage posters of your favorite movies! All you need is paper, glue, and cut up images of characters & elements in your movie. Add any 2D or 3D thing that reminds you of the movie.

Happy poster designing!

“Mosaic fun continued with tissue paper and felt adhesive paper” (from May!)

Everett and Anderson felt inspired by our class to continue mosaic-making even after class!

They used:
Paper
Scissors
Adhesive felt
Felt
But you can use just colored papers, magazines, scissors and glue!

Be sure to make a simple drawing 1st….
Then cover your lines with larger pieces (or Large + small pieces =a pattern)…
Then Fill in your “Empty Shapes” with baby pieces!

CUTTING & GLUING MADE SIMPLE in this week’s ART ADVENTURE

SKETCHBOOK COVER DESIGNS-
We record our progress with lines, shapes and pictures throughout the semester in our sketchbooks. Today we decorated them by “shopping” for colors we liked and patterns/ textures that pleased us. We made choices about what went first, then overlapped: “Larger first/smaller last.”

Cutting made simple:

Child:
Step 1: Act like you’re shaking someone’s hand.

Step 2: Thumb in small hole (top.)Fingers in large hole (bottom.)

Step 3: Alligator eats AWAY from you!

Step 4: “Open shut them” – a song we sing. (Or The alligator is REALLY hungry.)Press forward.

Younger:
Adult: hold the (thin) piece of paper -one hand on each side.
(Watch your fingers!)
Pull apart a bit to make it taught. This helps them be more successful!

Gluing made simple:
(with a brush or a gluestick):
1: take your paper you want to attach.
2: Turn it over.
3: Go around the edges.
4: “Cris-Cross” in the center.
5: Turn it over and attach.

Don’t worry that they turn their scissors “upside-down.” They haven’t stretched their “rotation” muscles yet.

We’re working on it!
