Happy Kwanzaa!

Kwanzaa means first fruits of the harvest!

Thankful for the harvest this year has blessed us with. Food to fill our stomachs and time to spend with our loved ones whether near or far!

“Everyone can use these [explained] principles below…to be a better human being!”

-(What is Kwanzaa and How is it Celebrated?, Inside Edition: Youtube)

Seven principles of Kwanzaa are Umoja: Unity, Kujichagulia: Self Determination, Ujima: Collective Work and Responsibility, Ujamaa: Collective Economics, Nia: Purpose, Kuumba: Creativity, Imani: Faith.

Happy Belated Bday to one of our favorite artists: Gustav Klimt!

July 14th wasn’t just Bastille Day (Bonne Fête, France!) but it would have also been Klimt’s 157th birthday! Bon Anniversaire to one of our favorites!

Here are some Art Adventures projects inspired by his art!

DId you know Yayoi Kusama is in town?

One of our many favorite contemporary artists’ work is in town with her MoMA PS1 exhibit at Ft. Tilden! Planning on going to the beach this Labor Day weekend? Go to the Rockaways to check out, Narcissus Garden (click link for more on the exhibit).

A perfect send off to this summer before the school year begins. Closes on Labor Day.

Summer Art Adventures with Giacometti @ The Guggenheim!

We continue to prepare for this Fall and our Summer tours by taking a trip to the Guggenheim this weekend to see the current exhibit on Giacometti. (click for more info on the exhibition)!

While mostly known for his sculptures, Giacometti was also a prominent Painter AND Printmaker. Who knew! He experimented & created multiple prints starting with wood etching with his father, Giovanni Giacometti (well known Swiss Impressionist Painter) when he was still a schoolboy!

A super educational retrospective and must see before it closes on September 12th!

FUN GIACOMETTI FACT: Ever notice how shadows are long and thin? Many of Giacometti’s sculptures are actually from his observation of the shadow!

We highly recommend visiting. Can’t make it with the family? Leave it to us to give your little Art Adventurer a tour!

Don’t miss this fun and exciting exhibition full of art learning opportunities for your little artist! We are pumped to share our sculpture and drawing projects with you.
