Spooky Art Preview for HALLOWEEN!

October arrived in a flash! So you know what that means! We are spending these next few weeks creating art with Halloween in our hearts & Giacometti sculptures in our minds! Celebrating his October Birthday all month with professional level materials & tools (plaster wrap, construction & acrylic paint), art problem solving challenges, and of course creative spooky fun!

Combining Art Forces with Yayoi Kusama & Mandalas

Our Art Adventures took us to a wedding! Marrying Japanese Artist, Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Rooms with the art of Mandalas in our 6-9 year old classes. CCA built our own reflection rooms to incorporate MATH and ART.
A mandala is a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, “mandala” is a Sanskrit word that means “circle”. Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms. Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms.
What percentage would you need to design, in order to create the illusion of a full circle?
Notice the fact that only 2 surfaces were used, to create the 3rd and 4th illusionary planes which complete the circle!

CCA classes have a 3:1 teacher-student ratio, myriad material exploration, optional French, as well as lunch & art + after-school programs for Ages 2-14.

One of our many favorite contemporary artists’ work is in town with her MoMA PS1 exhibit at Ft. Tilden! Planning on going to the beach this Labor Day weekend? Go to the Rockaways to check out, Narcissus Garden (click link for more on the exhibit).

A perfect send off to this summer before the school year begins. Closes on Labor Day.

COLOR COLOR COLOR with Ms. Claire, Ms. Jen & The Color Factory in NYC!

We can’t stop visiting art museums and galleries this summer! So much amazing and fun art to see in NYC. This week we attended opening night of the Color Factory.

Located in SoHo but originally started in San Francisco last summer, this team of innovators, artists, designers & non profits collaborated to create an amazing pop up celebration of color.
We just could not get enough of artists visual play on all things representative of color! A fantastic family trip to make with your children.

Learning all about the Color Wheel, mixing colors AND colors in French!

We sure are inspired by color for our Art Adventures programs & Museum Tours this FALL!
