It was an exciting and fun filled week of Museum Tours with Our Studio & Art Adventurers last week. Each class and age group explored a different wing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art learning about art from here and around the world through MAKING ART. Ms. Claire led Girl Scout Troop 4740 from Long Island City with Troop Leaders Mildred & Luciana Lamberto through the Plaxall Gallery, sharing what it means to be an artist and how to approach making art!
Several LIC artists also shared their processes, from scultpure, dioramas to paintings, including hers -while they were working in their artist studios made available by LIC-A, the Plaxall Gallery and Edjo Wheeler

Children and Adults learned to press textures from leaves and patterns to create bowls, trivets, plates and Holiday Ornaments! Underglazing with colors, they will be fired in a Kiln!
Our tummies are full, hearts filled with thanks and minds ready for more art! During our Thanksgiving break, the crew here at Art adventures went on an Art field trip to Material for the Arts! Artist in Residence, Juan Hinojosa shared his creative process with us using the art form of collage. Simply using scissors, glue, and various paper & found objects, we planned, arranged and attached our materials on old LP’s!
What a great idea for future art adventures at home! Fun for the whole family, including the use of dad’s old 70’s & 80’s albums;)

Art Adventures combines Halloween with Soap Making! Spooky Halloween Soaps are easy to do… Glycerin + color + spooky plastic items + molds!
As we quickly approach the end of these summer days and the start of the Fall Art season, we’re so excited to see an artist that inspired some of our projects here at Art Adventures! Rachel Whiteread, a British sculptor known for her negative plaster casts of everything from the interior of buildings to boxes, will be displaying her work at the Luhring Augustine Galleries in Bushwick and Chelsea! Be sure to check out her amazing work starting September 19th in Bushwick & November 7th in Chelsea!
